The tool spits out classic Latin-style placeholder text that starts with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" if you've left the standard option on, or random Lorem-style text otherwise. Copy and drop it into your design mockup, prototype, or wireframe. Designers and developers use it because it fills space without distracting the viewer with actual readable content while reviewing a layout.

It varies. A typical Lorem Ipsum paragraph runs anywhere from 40 to 100 words depending on the source you generate from. The generator lets you set your own word count instead of guessing — if your design needs a 60-word block to fit a certain layout, type 60 and you get exactly that. The classic Cicero-derived paragraph is around 70 words, which is what most designers default to when they want a "standard" placeholder feel.

Set the unit to paragraphs, type a number that matches the layout you're filling — usually 1 to 3 for a typical content block — and click Generate. Paste the output straight into your Figma frame, Webflow CMS, or HTML mockup. Placeholder text helps you check spacing, line height, and how much content actually fits before the real copywriter delivers the words. Switch to short sentences for menus or buttons, longer paragraphs for blog body areas.

It's pseudo-Latin and doesn't translate cleanly into English. The text is a scrambled fragment from a Cicero treatise written around 45 BC, garbled and rearranged so designers wouldn't read it as actual content while reviewing a layout. The point is to look like real prose — with realistic word lengths and sentence rhythms — without saying anything. Type designers have used it since the 1500s for exactly this reason: meaningful enough to test, meaningless enough to ignore.

Set the generator to paragraphs and choose how many you need. The output is randomised on every click, so two consecutive generations give you different sentence orders and word patterns. Paste it into your design tool to see how the layout breathes when filled with content. Switch the unit to sentences when you only need a short tagline area filled, or words when you're testing a button or label that needs short, made-up content.

Change the output unit from "paragraphs" to "sentences" in the dropdown, then enter how many sentences you need. The tool gives you flat-running sentences without paragraph breaks, perfect for filling a single description block or testing a multi-line caption. Switch back to paragraphs when you need block content separated by blank lines, or to words when even sentences are too long for the design space you're working with.

Each click generates a new randomised set, so click Generate again and you'll get a different arrangement of words and sentences from the available pool. If you need a really long unique block, generate in batches — say five paragraphs at a time, three or four times — and paste them together. Lorem Ipsum has a finite stock of source words, so extreme lengths will see some repetition, but for normal mockup use you'll never notice.
