Attendance Percentage Calculator

What Is an Attendance Percentage Calculator?

An Attendance Percentage Calculator is a tool that computes your current attendance percentage and tells you how many classes you can skip (bunk) without falling below the 75% rule, or how many you must attend to clear the threshold. To calculate your attendance percentage, use the formula: Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes) × 100. For example, if you attended 45 of 60 classes, your attendance is (45/60) × 100 = 75%. This Attendance Percentage Calculator is used by school students, college students, and engineering / medical undergraduates to track AICTE / UGC mandated 75% attendance for end-semester exam eligibility.

Attendance Calculation Formulas

Current Attendance % = (Attended ÷ Total) × 100

If currently above the threshold (T%), classes you can safely skip:

Classes you can skip = (Attended ÷ T) − Total

If currently below the threshold, classes you must attend (assuming N more classes happen):

Classes to attend = ⌈(T × (Total + N) − Attended) ÷ 1⌉ (out of N future classes)

For India's standard 75% rule, T = 0.75. Some institutions use 80% (medical) or 85% (premier IIT/IISc).

Example Calculation

Example: Engineering College Mid-Semester Check

Input:

• Classes Attended: 52

• Total Classes Held: 65

• Required Attendance: 75%

• Future Classes Planned: 25

Calculation:

Current % = (52/65) × 100 = 80% (Safe — above 75%)

Classes you can skip = (52 / 0.75) − 65 = 69.33 − 65 = 4.33 → 4 classes

If 25 more classes happen, you can skip 4 + 25 × (1 − 0.75) = 4 + 6.25 → 10 in total

Status: SAFE • Can skip up to 4 immediately • Final % at semester end with current pace = ~80%

Frequently Asked Questions

Attendance percentage is the number of classes or days attended divided by the total held, multiplied by 100. Formula with values: Let A = attended classes and B = total classes. Attendance % = (A / B) x 100. Example: if A = 85 and B = 100, attendance = 85%. If A = 42 and B = 50, attendance = 84%. Use the same unit for both values: do not mix days attended with periods held. Schools may have minimum rules such as 75% or 85%.
70% attendance means attending 70 out of every 100 classes or days. Formula with values: Let A = attendance percentage 70 and B = total classes. Classes attended = (A / 100) x B. If B = 200 classes, attended = (70 / 100) x 200 = 140 classes. Absences = 200 - 140 = 60. Whether this is acceptable depends on the school rule. If the minimum is 75% or 85%, then 70% is below requirement.
To find days attended for 85% attendance, multiply total days by 85/100. Formula with values: Let A = 85% and B = total working days. Days attended = (A / 100) x B. If B = 200 days, attended = (85 / 100) x 200 = 170 days. Absences allowed = 200 - 170 = 30 days. If your school counts periods instead of days, use total periods as B. Round up when the school requires minimum attendance.
90% attendance means 10% absence, because 100% - 90% = 10%. Formula with values: Let A = total classes and B = required attendance 90%. Absences allowed = A x (100 - B) / 100. If A = 200 classes, absences = 200 x (100 - 90) / 100 = 20. So you can miss about 20 classes and still have 90% attendance. Schools may round differently, so use exact attendance software or official rules for final decisions.
95% attendance means attending 95 out of every 100 days. Formula with values: Let A = 95% and B = total days. Days attended = (A / 100) x B. If B = 200 school days, attended = (95 / 100) x 200 = 190 days. Absences = 200 - 190 = 10 days. If B = 365 days, attended = 346.75, so round according to the rule. For minimum attendance, students should usually round attendance days upward.
If attendance is 85%, then absence is 15%. Formula with values: Let A = total days and B = attendance 85%. Days missed = A x (100 - B) / 100. If A = 200 days, missed = 200 x 15 / 100 = 30 days. If A = 180 days, missed = 27 days. This assumes every day has equal value. If your institution counts individual lectures or lab periods, use total periods instead of days.
No, 96% attendance is very good. Value check: Let A = attendance 96% and B = total days 200. Days attended = (A / 100) x B = 0.96 x 200 = 192. Days missed = 200 - 192 = 8. If the minimum requirement is 75% or 85%, then 96% is safely above it. It also shows consistency and helps avoid exam eligibility problems. Only confirm whether medical leave or activity leave is counted separately by your school.
To find 75% of 365, convert the percentage into a fraction of 100 and multiply by the total. Formula with values: Let A = 75%, B = 365. Required days = (A / 100) x B = (75 / 100) x 365 = 273.75. This same method works for marks, money, attendance days, or any total quantity. First identify the percentage, then multiply it by the full amount.
95% attendance means 5% absence. Formula with values: Let A = total classes or days and B = attendance 95%. Absences = A x (100 - B) / 100. If A = 200 classes, absences = 200 x 5 / 100 = 10. If A = 365 days, absences = 365 x 5 / 100 = 18.25, so the allowed number may be 18 days if rounding down. Always use your institution's rounding rule for official eligibility.
