How It Works
This calculator determines your weighted average grade. Unlike a simple average where all assignments count equally, a weighted average considers the "weight" or importance of each assignment.
Calculation Steps
- Convert each assignment score to a percentage (Score ÷ Max Points × 100).
- Multiply each percentage by its weight (e.g., 90% × 20% weight = 18 points).
- Sum these weighted points to get your total grade.
Example
Suppose you have:
- Homework: 90/100 (Weight: 20%)
- Midterm: 85/100 (Weight: 30%)
- Final: 95/100 (Weight: 50%)
Homework: 90% × 0.20 = 18.0
Midterm: 85% × 0.30 = 25.5
Final: 95% × 0.50 = 47.5
Total: 18.0 + 25.5 + 47.5 = 91.0%
